P.K.14在中国摇滚乐中所占据的位置也许和Talking Heads或者Television在70年代的纽约浪潮中的地位类似。他们是属于最具有思考深度和本质性的乐队中的一支，对音乐怀有巨大的进取心，而对时尚毫不关心。在过去四年北京涌现出的让人惊异的年轻乐队之中，他们几乎是被公认为对年轻的北京音乐场景最有影响的乐队，因为他们的认真态度，因为他们的音乐才华，以及最重要的，他们对待音乐的方式。但是尽管他们处于北京音乐场景的中心，但是同时他们也是完完全全的独特并且在他们的场景中流动着——这也许是一支唯一的乐队。

P.K.14乐队1997年成立于南京，那一年的12月在那个城市开始了他们的首次舞台演出。1999年的5月，乐队在上海为来自瑞典的The (International) Noise Conspiracy乐队暖场演出，并成为中国众多受到称赞和具有影响力的乐队中的一支。2001年他们搬到了北京——中国的文化，政治，以及音乐的中心，在这里他们发表了他们的第二张专辑，《谁谁谁和谁谁谁》，以及随后而来的《白皮书》，那张唱片是2005年在瑞典录制的。在乐队最初的成员中，只有杨海崧留了下来，他通常被看作是P.K.14对艺术和音乐的审美的一个缩影。作为中国年轻的诗人之一，他的歌词，特别是关于中国城市中的叛逆青年的那些歌词，已经成为乐队风格的重要部分并且被他们的听众所称道。

除了主唱杨海崧之外，乐队的其他成员包括吉他手许波，贝司手施旭东，以及鼓手雷坛坛。除了出版诗歌和评论，杨海崧近几年也为一些北京最重要的乐队担任制作人，包括Carsick Cars引人注目的首张专辑，以及为人所称道的Ourself Beside Me乐队的首张专辑，还有八眼间谍、Birdstriking的首张专辑。施旭东还是兵马司旗下另一支乐队怪力的创始成员，也曾在脑浊、SUBS等乐队担任乐手。而雷坛坛是一位著名的摄影师以及平面设计师，并且他也偶尔参与FM3的表演。P.K.14已经在中国以及海外进行过大量的演出，他们也曾经和许多著名的乐队分享过同一个舞台，包括国际噪音阴谋（The International Noise Conspiracy）, These Are Powers, Ex-Models以及The Soundtrack of Our Lives等等。他们出现在众多的文章、采访以及评论中，他们的名字出现在中国、美国、德国、奥地利、法国、瑞典、挪威和澳大利亚的电视上，以及全世界大量的报纸和杂志里。

在2006年的6月，乐队被华语传媒大奖提名为年度最佳乐队和年度最佳摇滚乐队。2008年6月乐队在兵马司唱片发行了第四张专辑，《城市天气的航行》。由瑞典格莱美音乐奖最佳制作人Henrik Oja和Mats Hammarström制作，并在纽约由Greg Calbi制作母带。他制作的母带名单中包括Sonic Youth, Television, Talking Heads, Bob Dylan, John Lennon, David Bowie, Blonde Redhead, Patti Smith, Yo La Tengo, Strokes以及Interpol等等这些摇滚乐中传奇名字。2008年的下半年乐队在中国国内进行了大规模的巡演（五十多场演出）来推广这张唱片。同样在2008年，美国时代杂志把P.K.14评为亚洲最优秀的5支乐队之一，以及2008年最受期待的乐队之一。2009年同样也是P.K.14的突破之年，他们进行了首次的美国巡演，其中在纽约和华盛顿的演出门票均售罄。MTV中国把P.K.14选为他们的九月之选。在这一年将要结束时他们在越南的“Hey Ho, Lets Go”音乐节上压轴演出。

2010年乐队在美国西海岸进行了巡演，其中包括在SXSW音乐节上的表演以及为Roky Erickson暖场演出。同样值得注意的是，他们也在这一年第一次到达台湾与澳大利亚，应邀表演。目前，第五张专辑的录制正在计划之中。
